D James Jones was born June 9, 1975, in Dayton, Ohio to Darnell Wilson and Madonna Jones. His parents separated shortly after his birth, leaving his mother to struggle to take care of him and his four siblings. In 1993, he graduated from Dayton Meadowdale High School, and attended Central State University on a partial Choir scholarship. However, he dropped out after three quarters. After dropping out, Jones suffered from Grand Mal seizures, which nearly cost him his life. After recovering, he continued his College education at West Virginia State University. He chose a career in modeling after being told that it was better path for him.
He later attended modeling conventions and was scouted by Aria in Chicago, Boom Model & Talent in Tampa Fl and Geoffrey Chapman in Niagara Falls. However, he could not pursue the paths presented to him. He served in the U.S. Army for almost six years, reaching the rank of Sergeant, before being medically discharged for Cancer. He overcame Cancer, and returned to West Virginia State College and achieved his Bachelors in Liberal Arts, along with Commissioning as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army.
After graduating and completing his second tour to Iraq, Jones began acting in theater; Gospel Stage Play "Where is Ur Faith", and "MaMa MaMa Oh MeMa", both of which he earned the male lead in. He later began making television appearances, landing role in shows such as "Swamp Murders " and "Shots Fired".
