I'm kind of amazed you guys think getting rid of those collars is a bad thing
Will ANY of those mutants possibly be actual criminals or do "bad" stuff sure
But a TON will have been locked up unfairly obviously..
And the idea is to free and release mutants to help form a new country
None of that is bad, nor is the Inner Circle, who I doubt will be "beaten" anyway
Yeah it's really cool how they show that!
It makes sense too, mutants whose abilities are somehow similar ought to affect each other
We have to find out what Twist can really do. Like how large or complex an object can she "twist". I mean, her power seems to have more uses than Reed's does really. Reed's is just purely destructive in his immediate environment.
I think maybe Inner Circle gets "softer" and Underground gets "more active" by end of season but they will stay separate groups. But there are Morlocks, Purifiers, Sentinel Services as well. It's not just those 2 sides
A lot of people seem to be saying this. I... don't think so. I think she will just try to pressure or influence things to become a bit less over the top crazy brutal but her beliefs are still her beliefs I think. Same with Polaris. They're just kind the more "moderate side" of Inner Circle but they're still with the Inner Circle
I like Sage's. It seems very useful without being super flashy. It kind of fits my personality too I like to be more behind the scenes I don't think I'd want to risk my life or get into big battles much unless I had to.
After that probably the Cuckoos'. Telepathy is amazing.
And then probably Polaris' or Thunderbird's. Polaris has an amazing amount of different powers really since she controls one of the universe's four fundamental forces. Thunderbird has a great powerset of extremely durable and tough so you wouldn't die easily.
I am "Doug Ramsey" there
I agree with Dragonfly82 there is probably 0 chance this show will go the incest angle, but that's mostly because it's on broadcast television. If it was on a channel like HBO... it might work out but then it would be a different kind of show overall and geared more for adults.
Also remember we've already been told Andy is getting a love interest and it will probably be the new character Twist, not Lauren. Maybe Wes will resurface or else Lauren will just be independent.
But yeah I do think the Strucker siblings will feel a strong bond between them and it could help with like, tempting Lauren to want to use Fenris more and to "give in" to her impulses, and like I said, especially if some traumatic events happen she could want to start just destroying things
Apparently Andy and Lauren will even have a "shared dream" in episode 2.
Anyone watched the latest Star Wars movie? Reminds me of the Force Bond thing between Rey and Kylo... although it's creepy to compare because these are siblings but it's the same idea of like, even though they might be on opposing sides for now, they have this inevitability that may get them back together eventually.
To me the question is just does Lauren go to where Andy is ideologically or does he come over to her. I feel like it's more interesting and exciting for the first thing to happen, Lauren definitely has some darker impulses I think.
If something were to happen to for example Reed... like he dies after overusing his newly unlocked powers... well that might help push Lauren over to Inner Circle and Andy and just want to wreak havoc and get revenge on humanity.
Regarding the other more general discussions I basically feel Inner Circle is just a more militant extreme version of the Underground, like they kind of want the same core things, mutants to be safe and at peace eventually, but the Inner Circle feels like violence is a key component to accomplishing that, and that separation is also required, while Underground seems to prefer just low-level one-at-a-time rescue operations and trusting that somehow things are going to just work out in the overall society (despite all evidence to the contrary).
Could there be any like just like really angry violent members in Inner Circle? Sure, like Twist. But there will also be some in Underground who are just dragging their feet and not really fundamentally motivated enough to get the big changes done that are NEEDED. So it's really a balance in the show and that's on purpose, the show wants you to have to evaluate which side is going "too far" in either direction (Inner Circle too far towards destruction for its own sake vs Underground going too far towards pacifism for its own sake).
It's no secret that I think the current one is way too one-sided and biased... also it only polls two of the factions.
So I made another one, this covers all five major factions and hopefully is more impartial, well I tried to make it that way anyhow.
Please let me know if you found it helpful or not!
It looks like we might find out relatively soon going by the trailers out so far, showing Andy and Lauren using it out in the open
I honestly don't know if their combined blast would stretch out for like a mile around them or what
Of course it's typical comic book writing, why doesn't their Fenris Effect disintegrate the GROUND ? Then they would both fall down and it would be bad. So we just ignore that aspect I guess and pretend either they have some type of subconscious control over it and avoid the ground, or the ground on this show is invincible and always made out of reinforced adamantium.
Ignoring the ground question though I would just assume their Fenris Effect would go out in a semi sphere for a given distance , vaporizing whatever it came into contact with
In a way this makes them an amazing human WMD because they just have to like walk into the White House, Pentagon, Kremlin, etc. and use it, and they'll be the only ones safe, while everything else around them would be totally gone. It would be a question of whether or not it totally exhausts them to use it though or could they just keep blasting over and over until they were safe from enemies and could move on to the next target
I gave up arguing in here Kev, some of these people are hard set in their views about Good and Evil and no amount of evidence seems to change it
This is true Jkmutant, they changed Wanda's powers massively for the movies and unfortunately now tons of fans think those are her powers. I think they did it to try to make her an imitation Jean Grey
Awesome new trailers for each main mutant side.
I would almost like a trailer for the Morlocks and Purifiers too honestly lol
Polaris just levitating up while looking so determined and fierce is EVERYTHING
Can't wait for Inner Circle to demonstrate to humanity how wrong they are, not every mutant will just run and hide like the Underground does ;-P
They're heroic IMO. I think the creepy factor is just a way of showing that some mutations "seem creepy" but honestly it's just how their mutation works and the fact they're clones...
I do think Skyler kind of makes them a bit TOO snarky on the show I hope in s2 we see them being more relatable and vulnerable at times. Although we got some of that in s1. Like I think in s2 when they go into their background more maybe it will be revealed why they put on such a sort of "cold mean" facade so much, maybe some events when they were growing up related to Emma Frost etc
I heard some other people say they think Hellfire really only wants Lorna for her child. I think that'd be too cartoonish and Esme at least actually respects Lorna as an equal warrior.
And yes we will get confirmation about her as Jewish via flashbacks.
I am also looking forward to the flashbacks for the Cuckoos. I wonder how close they can hint at their parentage with Magneto and Emma Frost.
Ok yeah I have no idea if the leadership of the show's Hellfire Club are completely selfish and just want to form a like society to rule the planet. That is possible. There was that one conspiracy theory video they posted online to hint at it. But then we see Reeva and the Cuckoos essentially kill all of them anyway. So maybe that is what changes the mission of Hellfire from like "behind scenes society just wants power" to more "organization devoted to freedom of mutantkind". I'm speculating but I think that could be how it goes.
As far as the outcomes of the actions I think you need both approaches and both organizations Hellfire and Underground. It's like Carrot vs Stick or Good Cop/Bad Cop. One organization puts one kind of pressure and the other does more positive appeals. We saw in season 1 how simply the Underground/Xavier approach got absolutely nowhere and resulted in terrible outcomes. We'll find out in season 2 how both organizations can try to work together more, but if the Underground doesn't understand that and keeps trying to mess with Hellfire that would be another disaster.
Well... the very name "Hellfire Club" and its history in the comics and the movie are definitely a lot more one-sided portraying it. But I think in the show they're sort of merging Hellfire Club with the Brotherhood together as a single entity. And it will be more about like "protecting and advancing mutantkind however possible". I would definitely not call them totally evil and we have really no reason to believe that right now. Well, the other thing that looks bad is how Andrea and Andreas are again in the comics Neo Nazis... and their creepy incest etc. They didn't explicitly do that in the show at least not yet although they were speaking german in the 1950s, and they had a creepy smile when holding hands to produce the Fenris effect. So that's not a great look overall. But I still hope the show will make it feasible to support Hellfire this season. Grace Byers, the actress who will be playing Reeva Payge, answered questions on instagram the other day and she basically said she views her character as a strong protector of mutants who only wants what's best for them. So .. I feel more comfortable about her now after that that she won't be this like diabolical fiend or something
Of course, "the road to hell is paved with good intentions" and "be careful not to stare too long into the abyss, for it stares back".
As time goes on she may feel "forced" into more extreme actions like battling the Underground etc. Her initial struggle about what to do may fade as she becomes adjusted and numbed to the violence.
BTW. Have any of you been checking the poll on this site's front page? It's now 17 vs 46 I think in terms of Underground vs Hellfire. I find that surprising but I'm happy about it. I wonder to what extent it's mainly just folks who like the characters associated with Hellfire though as opposed to a genuine like, belief.
